Celebrate Downtown Sussex was held August 22-27 2016.
A week filled with activities and music . All ages enjoyed . From magic shows featuring magician Harry Herbert to music by Gary Morris and the Crossroads.
Perfect weather made this week even better . Monday featured a magic show and a sing along at Leonard’s gate and on Tuesday a checkers contest hosted by the Sussex Shriners followed by 4H Co-op demonstrations and awards. Ending that day at 6pm with the 4H parade through MainStreet. Wednesday, children of various ages enjoyed a Murals Scavenger Hunt then a sing along and another Magic show. Thursday’s street dance in front of the Bank of Nova Scotia had people out of their chairs and dancing until it became dark. Also with over 100 classic cars for their viewing pleasure. Friday started the day with a magic show, farmers market and music at the train station. Saturday ended the week with a dance walk and strawberry shortcake in support of the Team Fox Parkinson’s Group.
The 4H club celebrated their 100th anniversary that week also with some of their events featured as what to see in the Celebrate Downtown Sussex week. Store fronts were decorated in various themes representing their 100 years of history . Lots went on in the Princess Louise Park show barn with light horse and draft horse shows . Dairy and beef displays with awards.
Celebrate Downtown Sussex is an annual event held in the later part of August and with so much taking place there was something for everyone to enjoy.
